Unforgettaballs! presents the new Yankee Stadium Baseball!
A new era is born for New York fans! The new Yankee Stadium opens its doors on April 16, 2009.
Opening Day: April 16, 2009
Seating capacity: 52,325 (4,561 less than the old stadium)
Field Dimensions: Left field, right field, center, right center and left center, all exactly the same as original Yankee stadium
Home plate to backstop: 52'4" (old stadium 72'4")
The home ballpark for New York, this park replaces the original stadium built in 1923. The new ballpark was constructed across the street from the previous (1923) stadium. Construction began in August 2006, but building a new stadium took many years and faced many difficulties. Financing for the stadium was one of the main issues. The projected total cost of the stadium was $1.5 billion; this would make it the second most expensive stadium in the world (Wembley Stadium is the first).
It is a beautiful combination of the history and architectural details from the old stadium, with a touch of 21st century comfort and style. This baseball is a print from a hand painted original that shows the new building from both the outside and the inside view.
Includes a protective, clear lucite display box.
